I live in downtown Jersey City in a brownstone built when President Lincoln was in office. It was truly the *crack house on the corner* when purchased and it would take a full year to gut & rehab. I hired a GC, paid a GC but somewhere along the line I became the GC (!). I interacted with dozens of contractors and sub contractors before moving in and have been tweaking the place ever since.
The cappuccino bar was always a sight for sore eyes and pipes would freeze in the walls behind it each winter. Decided to pull the trigger on an upgrade and had conversations with several contractors before landing on Summit Construction. Rich & Rich were easy to communicate with and followed up via email ~ providing a comprehensive quote. Work began on the day they said it would and we quickly had a few hiccups.
Seems that the Civil War era bricks and mortar that formed the rear support wall were being held together with spit & fairy dust. What to do? Ah, Rich & Rich knew exactly what to do...on a sub zero winter's day they quickly got to work mixing cement and rebuilding the entire thing. Spray foam insulation was then applied ~ we hated to cover their work up with sheetrock!
Cabinets were hung, a new backsplash was applied, etc. etc. Their attention to detail was unmatched by any other contractor I've ever worked with. All corner trim was mitre cut, trim applied around the perimeter of the backsplash, etc.
Bottom line: (((love))) these guys and am dreaming up lots more projects for them.
